BillsBasement, a wholly owned subsidiary of noware.com, has announced it has been the victim of a hostile takeover by Kitware, a Halfmoon NY software company.

Will Schroeder, President, and CEO of Kitware issued the following statement: "For years, BillsBasement has been a PIA about software quality and API backward compatibility of the Insight Toolkit (ITK) and the Visualization Toolkit (VTK). Kitware and the community that supports ITK and VTK cannot afford the increased expenses to maintain quality software and backward compatibility. We had hopes that BillsBasement would stop these practices after its sole employee retired, but BillsBasement continues to promote these practices actively. We had to act before these ideas spread to other open source projects."

Bill Lorensen, an unpaid intern in BillsBasement responded: "I have fought for software quality and backward compatibility for years. With few allies, I have no choice but to accept the hostile offer and focus my activities on improving my golf game and expanding my geocaching activities."

Terms of the takeover have not been disclosed, but there are rumors that a lifetime membership to the Beer of the Month Club finalized the negotiations".
